Kigali institute of Education (KIE) is a public institution of higher learning in Rwanda, which was founded in 1999 and legally established under KIE statute law No 49/2001 of 27/12/2001; The KIE structure, organization and functioning is determined by law n° 20/2008 of 18/07/2008.

The establishment and operation of KIE was made possible by combined efforts of the Rwandan government as major stakeholder, and assistance from various donors including the World Bank, African Development Bank, Swiss Co-operation, Belgian Co-operation, DFID, USAID, German Cooperation, the French Co-operation and the Netherlands.

In its ten years of existence, KIE has made significant strides. It has evolved into a dual mode institution offering distance and pre-service programmes in various disciplinary areas ranging from diploma to Honours degree. At Master Level, as MSc/MRes in Social and Educational Research Methods has been on offer since 2007. KIE in partnership with UNISA offers programme that range from certificate to PhD.

Objective and mission

KIE has the objective to offer high level teaching in various fields and in technology and conduct research in various matters as well to help the population solve their problems.

Mission

To develop curricula and offer high level educational courses, trainings that enable students to develop their knowledge; promoting research in various fields in collaboration with other institutions so as to propel education, science and technology. Besides, KIE supports cultural, civic, moral education of the community and enhance economic and socio-cultural development of the country.

The first students with disabilities were admitted in KIE in January 2008 and they are included in the mainstream education system, thanks to the Government which is committed to equity in access to Education.

Confucius Institute at KIE (CIKIE) in Rwanda is a non-profit institute aimed at promoting Chinese language & culture as well as promoting mutual development & enhancing culture & academic collaboration & exchanges between Rwanda & China.

    in management.I would like to know if after finishing my year one at INILAK and getting transfer i may be
