The national University of Rwanda NUR emerged as the best overall winner during the Market Authority (CMA) university challenge.
The CMA embarked on a new epic campaign, targeting students in tertiary institutions through the University Challenge.
The University Challenge is an engaging competition for students at universities and other higher institutions of learning in the country. It primarily focuses on testing the participants’ knowledge and understanding of capital markets and financial issues
The University Challenge is developed on the ‘Bottom-Up’ model, targeting the youth segment of the population starting with university students.
This is the second year in a row, the Capital Market Authority has held the university challenge and it is open to all universities and institutions of higher learning in Rwanda.
The CMA University challenge version 2013 brought in 15 institutions of higher learning and comprised of recorded TV quiz challenge, as well as an essay competition which all saw the National University of Rwanda’ students emerging as the overall winners of the competition.
The National University of Rwanda (NUR) won the best TV quiz prize after defeating the first runners up Kigali health institute with 15 points against 13 points out of 30 maximum shared points on final round at the award giving ceremony.
The winners of the TV Quiz were awarded shares worth 1.200.000 Rwandan Francs at the Rwandan stock exchange. The winners are Nathanael Niyivuga, Andrew Kazungu and Thierry Mugwaneza, all from the department of Economics –Faculty of Economics and Management.
Alleluia Deliphine Dusabimana from NUR-Faculty of Agriculture in the department of Agri-business emerged the overall winner in the essay writing competition, and was awarded shares worth 500,000 Rwandan Francs.
