Applications for the government scholarships meant for the needy students will end with this June as final selections will be awaited in July.
This was announced by the Deputy Director of High Education Student Loans Department (HESLD) at the Rwanda Education Board (REB) Fred Mugisha.
According to Mugisha, the application is already on and that they have to hasten it so that there is enough time to determine how much money is needed to finance the students when they start school this September.
Government Sponsored students are not catered for with university tuition alone, they are also given Rwf25, 000 for the daily upkeep.
It is for this reason that he advised students to go to the universities at which they were admitted so that they can be given the document that shows that they have been accepted to be on the government list.
Mugisha also explained that it is not all students who qualified for the government scholarship are entitled to get the Rwf25, 000 facilitation. He says that it is given to those with evidence from villages which grade them in the national programme of ubudehe rating.
