The Kigali public library

Kigali recently inaugurated a gigantic public library that meets international standards.


The library, which is located in Kacyiru sector, Gasabo District on the roadside opposite the American embassy, was launched on Monday and started operating immediately.

The facility was built and equipped by International Rotary club of Kigali-Virunga a Non-government Organisation which invested 3 million U.S dollars.


The effort to build the Kigali Public Library received strong support from Rwanda and the international community.

This new library offers over 12,000 books ranging from history and literature, science, children story books as well as ordinary novels.  The library has a section for Rwandan art, history and culture.


The library also has an African section that includes history and literature, an internet café.
